My giant american milli named kitty fell on the floor while I was trying to put her back in the enclosure. It was about a 2-3 foot drop. She instantly curled and i picked her up and put her into enclosure. she left what looked like brown liquid on my hand that i quickly washed off. She has no cracks to her exoskeleton, she uncurled after a few seconds and started crawling around like normal. The way she’s walking and acting is normal other than the fact of her walking around a-lot on the surface. She even took a poop after a little bit. This is my first time ever owning a milli and I don’t want her to die. I don’t know if she will die but i guess i know now to keep my hand under or something soft under her at all times. Please let me know if I can do anything to help her.

It might live , I don’t really know much about millipede injuries. But I see these threads popping up pretty often. People drop them. Try and use a catch cup next time. Is she no longer bleeding?
She hasn’t bled since then from what i’ve noticed. If that brown liquid was blood. The catch cup is a good idea. I hope she turns out to be okay. I’ll leave her be for a little while and just keep food and water accessible.

Yeah I’ve seen a tarantula die in a pet shop once because the employees basically convinced the customers to handle it. Concrete is dangerous for fragile inverts. Keep us updated.

Welcome to ab. And the hobby , yeah I still don’t understand why that employee wanted me or any other customers with no knowledge at all to hold it. That was forever ago. I’d rather just bought it.

UPDATE kind of..
She burrowed down and curled up but is still alive. I’m going to leave her be for a good while and make sure that she has food and water available. Does anyone know if i should try and find her every few days to make sure she’s alive? Or should I just leave her be for a few weeks. I tried doing research on these guys but no one has mentioned anything regarding that to me.

I've been keeping these guys for about 2 years, my advice would be leave her alone and wait maybe a month or so before handling her again. It's a good sign that she went right back to normal immediately after and has no visible injuries. The brown liquid also could have been their defensive tactic, sometimes when threatened they'll curl up and release a stinky liquid to deter predators. Just in case though, sometimes after sustaining an injury they will burrow and go into a molt in order to heal, so if she stays burrowed definitely don't disturb her. She looks healthy though, and I'm inclined to think she'll be just fine
