My little friend here has been living here in my laundry room which is located in a screen room in my backyard, im not quite sure how long hes been there, but ive noticed him ever since ive been doing my laundry at 2 A.M, back to the spider, his diameter (including legs) is about the size of a nickel. he is brown with lighter colored rings around its legs,(see picture posted), it never comes out during the day!, i have never seen it come out during the day, only in the wee hours of the morning. when its dark!

Honestly, I don't know, but it's a very nice-looking spider. Do you have any information on it or did you just see it on the web and decide to post wondering what it was?

hello fellow SoCal'er :)

First of all, it appears to be a mature male, so it is probably not going to live for more than 4 months.

second, it looks like it is on a funnel web?

if so that would probably make it an Agenelid grass spider

the only thing that is confusing me is that Agenelid mature males that i see have these crazy spiral emboli on their palps

for true spider Family identification you need to get a very clear pic of the number AND placement of the eyes

Agenelid have a lot of just about equal sized eyes distributed in a sort of oval shape.

Lycosidae (wolf spiders) have two big forward facing eyes and more little ones, and RARELY make big webs

some Agenelid spiders are known to be medically significant, but i do not believe any local to us are

Tegenaria Family - House Spiders is also another possibility... they make sheet webs, too

Agreed, It has the colour morph I've seen before in the Grass spiders of this region, and they come from everywhere all the way up to my native land Canada! But you only see em half the year there lol. I'd let it go or fidn it a momma their maracuously easy to breed. Hope you get some good pics in the least. Have a good day and take care.
