Hello everyone!

I need help to identify this scorpion a friend of mine has found in Piracicaba, Brazil. It was very small (around 2cm) and my friend find this little guy on his bathroom floor so he thinks it came from the pipes. He would like to know if this scorpion is venous or not and if he should be worried or not.

I did some research and found out that Piracicaba is known for the presence of Tityus serrulatus. I'm not sure if this is helpful or not.

Sorry for the terrible image quality, he only had his phone camera available at the time.

I do not think you will be able to get an accurate ID based on those images. However, I think it is safe to say it probably has a potent venom, given the small chalae and well developed tail.

Thank you for your reply!

Yes, unfortunately the picture quality is really low. Because Tityus serrulatus is the most common scorpion species in his area I was expecting to be possible to identify it by comparison. It looks similar enough to me but I know nothing about scorpions.
