My Davus pentaloris has been staying in a enclosure with not much vent holes but its been fine for more then a year so basically since I got it. Just last week I checked up on it and it seems to have mold on its carapace and chelicerae, so i decided to rehouse it into a critter keeper. Any tips on removing the mold?

It hasnt molted in 7 months and its about 3 inches (unmature male btw). It also refuses to eat, last time it ate was 3-4 months ago.

Do they move? Could be mites

If they move seach the forum. There are plenty of threads on mites

Hey BingBong. Try to keep your t in a small cup while you use a paintbrush to rub it off. If you have it available, dilute some F10 and just gently paint it over the affected areas. They should be ok, try to make some more vent holes. I keep snails and sometimes their food gets moldy waaay quicker than I expected. Best of luck

I had one that came in a moldy enclosure with mold spores on her body/legs. I was able to move her into a small deli dish to restrict movement and brush off the bits of mold gently with the soft part of a pipe cleaner. Then set her up with a new clean dry enclosure. Once she was in the new setup she groomed off the remaining mold particles herself. I think cleaning with iodine solution may also be a good strategy as iodine will kill fungal spores.

If the white bits are dry and flakey and brush off they might be egg cases from phorid fly larva. I’d try and clean her up. Make sure there’s no maggots near her mouth.

That's almost certainly poop....ts grow by molting, so regardless, the issue will be solved when it next molts.

Do you have a mm? may explain why they won't eat even though they are skinny.

Would it hurt if I moved it into a smaller and drier enclosure? It should be in premolt right now based on its schedule and idk if it will make it harder to molt in a dry setup.

If in premolt, just leave it. Whether poop or mold spores, will be gone after the new skin arrives :) rehouse once it's done and hardened up, maybe a meal first. Then setup with a better enclosure you think will work :)

Sure it's mould and not mites? I ask as whe Ts are always round the water dish it is basically the t trying to rehydrate but all the mites take it from them so will be constantly looking for water.
Can put in a cricket tub with dry paper at the bottom with a slice of mushroom at one end if mites. They will move to the mushroom if nothing else available. It's a long process to keep changing the mushroom and hoping all the mites drop off. It's too hard to tell from the pic if mites or not.

@Charliemum had success with this so the above is all credit to her experience and research and summat to consider if it is indeed mites.
If mould, the air flow must be too low, hunidity too high and potentially more spot cleaning needed.

GL. Hope he gets better
