I recently received two new baby mourning geckos one of which was missing part of her tail but as the tail started to grow back it went black. I researched and found that it was most likely necrotic. No vet near me will touch her since she's so small, fragile and super fast. I tried putting a bit of pressure on the tail to see if she would naturally drop it but she didn't. Please help!

I'm afraid that sometimes, they just don't make it. Such a tiny animal will have to rely on its own biology to recover. Not all hatchlings will survive.
Necrosis will only set in if there is an infected wound, and at such a small size, there really is nothing anyone can do.

Thanks anyway for answering. She seems to be ok at the moment eating and moving around. I'm a bit disheartened though as she was new company for one that had just lost a friend.

I have a colony of mourning geckos and a few have lost their tail over the years. I recall seeing some having a slighter darker color on the new growth but nothing ever came out of it.

If yours is still moving around, alert and eating then I would not worry.

Do you have a picture of the gecko though with the tail?

IMG_20200823_152548.jpg i managed to get a pic of her tail through the leaves. She's eating and moving just fine and it doesn't look like it's spreading.

Looks like a regrowth to me from the picture. The little gal will be ok and do just fine. Just wait till they get bigger and start laying eggs. I think I started with 4 and probably have about 30 now. They are really neat to see their social order at times.

That's such a relief to hear. I'm still new to owning them and I've not had them regrow a tail yet. Thanks for the info
