Hey y’all,
I wanted some advice in helping a queen wasp that is hibernating in the bathroom. We need to move it but I would like to keep it safe. She is for sure alive and we want our toilet paper back. I added a photo at the end of the post
- I believe it is a vespula vulgaris queen, checked the head and it has the “ax” kind of mark and not the dots like a germanica would.
- we live in Germany and it is still winter and cold outside.
I would like to move it safely somewhere outside, but try to boost her chances of living. I am unsure if before moving her we should bring her to a warmer place and provide water and honey so maybe she becomes more active and gets more sugar before we slowly bringer her to colder rooms and then outside? Or is disturbing her hibernation worse?
and then to bring her out, is there some sort of shelter we can improvise to put her in before placing her somewhere outside?
Any tips? thank you for any help and happy holidays!
