Hi! This is my first time taking care for a spider. For a while now, I've wanted a pet spider and never took the initiative to actually get one till now :) ANYWAYS...
I like saving money and exploring. Theres a nature preserve full of spider bait and even in my backyard there is insects I could catch.
I need help identifying which creatures are okay to feed my spider!
I just caught a garden spider, is that okay to feed my pet? (obviously its smaller than my spider)

I wouldn’t risk feeding spiders to other spiders. Venom and whatnot. I say just buy some small crickets at your local pet store, but if you’re dead set on wild-caught prey, flies will do just fine.

I wouldn’t. There’s the risk of your P. audax getting injured. I’d stick to non predatory insects.

Again, not something I’d recommend, you never know which of those insects is covered in pesticides. Even if you don’t live near farmland, that doesn’t exclude the fact that a lot of people use pesticides in their garden, on their lawn, etc. There’s no telling whether or not your jumping spider is immune to whatever pesticide it may encounter via feeder.
I like saving money
Store bought prey items are pretty cheap. I personally feed mine dubia roach nymphs from my colony.

If you really want to use wild caught feeders and the risk of pesticides doesn’t bother you, flies, roaches, crickets, very small mealworms, etc are good feeders. I have tried to feed mine an isopod, but she seemed confused more than anything.

Beautiful new addition btw :D

My jumpers love flies, crickets, moths, and the occasional wax worm. They’ll eat just about anything you give them!
