I purchased some hissers about four months ago. They have yet to produce any nymphs. I have seen a few of the females drop their oothecae. They have plenty of hiding spaces. This summer my spider room temp. was on average 85 degrees. The humidity is approx. 60%. What am I doing wrong? I keep my spider room at 73 dgs. during the winter. I think this might be too cold for them to breed successfully so I was thinking of using a heat pad or heat tape. Do you have any suggestions? I would appreciate any help with these questions. Thanks in advance.

I think you've got the right idea, my feeder roaches (Blaptica dubia) dropped their oothecae quite often before I moved them from my closet into my room where it's much warmer! But I never kept hissers so perhaps someone else knows better!?

Hissers

We maintain one end our hisser enclosure around 90 degrees with a heat pad and it goes to about 75 degrees on the other end. We were hoping to provide a gradient and let them go where they will. They all seem to stay in the middle and the temps just don't seem to make much difference.
Also, you might want to review our hisser caresheet located at:

Hope this helps,
