My Giant Vinegaroon (M. giganteus) has lost his tail. There was nothing in the cage that could have chewed it off and it never got caught in the lid or anything.:? Does anyone have any experience with these guys that can tell me what might have happened? I'm a bit worried about him. :wall: I have no idea what could have caused this and I can't find any information that pertains to this sort of thing.

Oops. I just realized I posted this in the wrong forum and I can't delete it or move it myself.

I had one where the tail fell off and I know of two other people that said they had some that had their tails fall off too. I wondered about it:? , then I saw one in a pet store in the corner of the terrarium, it was in the "crawl up the glass" position. My guess is that when they are up against the glass or the side of the container like that, their tail gets pinched at the base over and over again until it finally gets weak at that point, dies and falls off, ..just something that crossed my mind. I've heard some people say it might happen during mating but it just doesn't look that way to me. If it comes off during mating my guess is that it's been pinched at the base so many times that it's dead and going to fall off anyway sooner or later. Just a guess so of course, consider other possibilities. ...Oh, one I saw that lost it's tail continued living for about a year(?), and it had babies.
