Hawk id needed

Think it's an immature hawk. I am lucky to see a hawk once a year, so not sure what species this is.

Looks like a red shouldered hawk. Not 100% though because they strongly resemble red tailed hawks.

Without seeing it in flight you can't know the species but you can narrow it down to the two mentioned above from that picture and your locality.

Immature red-tail no doubt. If it was a red-shouldered you'd know it, if they're flying than they're always boasting that signature "keeee-aahhh" call over and over again.

Both are in my area, but red tailed hawks seem to be more abundant.
