I caved lol I decided to get a
Avicularia juruensis M2
Purple Pink Toe
As I wanted an arboreal
Lol I did loads of reading first, I have a dumb question I can't find the answer to anywhere. What does "M2" mean?
I assumed it meant male.. then in the description it says un sexed.
I have nearly 2 weeks to learn as much as I can before he/she gets here.

Hi n welcome,
I believe its morph 2 a throw bk to before they started sorting out the genus, although I could be totally wrong 😆.
Put your sp into the search bar on here n read all you can is your best option for info, it's what I do with all my sp 😊
Gl to you n if you have any more questions you know where we are 😉😊

Morphotype ? Something along those lines. What was once several "variants" of Avicularia avicularia depending on locality has indeed turned out to be different species in the end.

So, A. juruensis M2 would be Morphotype 2. Then again, the Genus is still being revised... or has that been resolved by now ? There's probably a taxonomical paper out there. And there's always the case that this could be a seller that isn't up to date on taxonomical revisions. Not everybody keeps track of that.

In the end, there's no such thing as a "dumb" question :) Ask away.

Yer I think that's it, I don't keep avicularia so ots not a genus I keep up on but I think they have finished with it for now I am not 100% on that though.

No never a stupid question 😊 you don't ask you don't know 😊

Wrong

Morphotype 2. Find the last Avic revision, it’s a primary research article

2 weeks 😂

see link in my sig file come back with specific questions if needed.

Tons of first time Avic owners kill Avics. It’s the only genus in the world that has tons of “why. Did my T die” posts, and 99% of the time it’s due to the owner who did NOT do enough research before getting it.

Avicularia urticans was synonymized with Avicularia juruensis, meaning they are now considered the same species. Specimens previously labeled as A. urticans should now be referred to as A. juruensis.

Two distinct morphotypes were identified for A. Juruensis

M1, Generally brown, gold, or green with golden banding. Includes specimens such as "sp. pucallpa" and "green urticans."

M2, Larger, purple specimens with golden bands, often referred to as "sp. Peru purple" or "purple urticans"

It's all about how these guys are set up, there is a few threads on there enclosure needs and stuff, read up as much as possible.
