It is a little sharp to the touch if you apply preasure but considering the weight of a T I'm not sure if it would be a problem . How sensitive are a T's feet ? My plan is to carve out section so I can put in a clear water dish . God I hate that " DOG BOWL LOOK ". I am also planning on boring holes and filling them with potting soil for live plants , this way they can be watered without getting the rest of the tank wet . One other note feather rock may be the easest thing to grow moss on .

Sharp is bad under any condition. Aside from their feet being damaged (minor consideration) there's a possibility of abdomenal damage from either dragging it over the rock or worse yet, falling from the top onto the rock (serious considerations). If you can work the rock to where there are no sharp points, jagged edges, etc it should be ok though. I don't know exactly what feather rock is but, yeah, sharp is bad.

I personally don't often put anything harder than wood in the enclosures except for water bowls which are usually lightweight plastic.

Its sharp in the way sandpapper is sharp but I hadn't thought about dragging , Thanks . Maybe I'll carve one and wait til its moss covered .

I'm with etown. Sharp and tarantula don't mix. anything sharp around any T can be potentially harmful.

Yeah, abrasive can be bad news too. If you really wanted to carve something cool maybe you could start with a chunk of soapstone, it's pretty smooth and easily carveable.
