Yep, I have one on my Anole enclosure now. It sets very close to the basking spot so the Anoles can get to within 2 inches of it. They generally stay about 3 - 5 inches away from the bulb.
I really don't think they are the best choice and would suggest going with a Mega-Ray Mercury Vapor Lamp instead if you want any real UVA UVB output.

zoo med power sun.. (depending on what animal its for) in my opinion its the best bulb on the market simply for the fact that the bulb actually comes with a one year warenty.. you have to send the old bulb back and you get a new one in the mail as long is its not broken.. only counts if the bulb goes out.

it has uvb-uva and puts out quite a bit of heat.

The problem with the coil bulbs is that the UVB out put burns out in just a couple months. While they will probably be ok for reptiles with low UVB needs like chameleons, they are not recommended for reptiles with really high UVB needs like bearded dragons and monitors.

you might have that a little backwords.. chamilions need LOTS of UVB.. theyre way fragile like that. monitors on the other hand with a well balanced diet realy dont need uvb at all.

Took the words out of my mouth.

I have the coils on one of my chams now, but I take them outside frequently, so I don't notice any difference with this or the fluorescent tubes, or the mercury vapor lamps. My test sample is not a good basis for analysis though since the needed UV is attained through various means.
