I was just wondering if anybody here knew much about these guys. I'm not really sure at all about their presence in captivity except for reading something about them being worked with at some point in the Cincinnati zoo. It's sad to see that a lot of them are available in various framed/mounted forms for display.

Anyway,
Have these ever been in the hobby?

Thanks,
-Andy

I saw that beetle on a TV show. I think it was the Discovery channel. They guy was buggin in north, South America I think. Pseudo scorps would tag a ride on the beetle when it was time for them to get a new home. I don't know much about the beetle either, just something I saw. Sure would like to known the sp. name of that giant centipede too. The colors are pretty amazing on that beetle. Those long front legs were pretty weird too on the male.

That giant centipede was Scolopendra viridicornis. In Indiana Jones and the temple of doom there were live A.longimanus so they must be for sale somewhere but as to where that is I have no idea.

Cerambycidae beetles are very difficult to breed (sometimes almost impossible). I was succesfull only with two - three common european species. So you can get only captured specimens. A. longimanus is very popular in collections... but pinned :D
