The name of Haploclastus devamatha has changed. This psychedelic blue arachnid will now be known as Cilantica psychedelicus. The genus name Cilantica is completely new and is derived from the Tamil word for spider. This new genus contains three species:

Cilantica agasthyaensis Mirza, 2024 (new species)
Cilantica kayi (Gravely, 1915) (formerly Haploclastus kayi)
Cilantica psychedelicus (Sanap & Mirza, 2014) (formerly Haploclastus devamatha)

Cilantica agasthyaensis looks like it could be what's known in the hobby as Thrigmopoeinae sp. cinnamon. Though let's not jump to conclusions until the scientists compare hobby specimens with this paper.

I'm assuming that what has been traded in the hobby as Haploclastus sp. Khali has been described in this paper, as well - Cilantica kayi seems to be VERY similar in both appearance and distribution...

Next time she molts I'll compare what I can under the microscope to see if there are any identifiable similarities.

New species keep getting discovered, which is awesome. The need to replace old labels for taxonomical reasons, not so awesome :p I jest, it's no biggie !
