I dont know how you can stand those damned hairs. Urticating hairs really mess me up because I am unusually sensitve to them. But I still love the hairkickers, lol.

Thanks! My fiance Matt shot the first two :D actually, the blondi didn't kick hairs at all! She's Matt's baby ;) A little skittish at first, but what a good baby!

Beautiful T. blondi you have there! For some reason other NW haven't made me itch (yet) - just our T. blondi. And boy do they make me itch!

nice!i learned the hard way that these guys itch, i held my friend's juvinile and got a handful of hairs, and dumb old me i wiped my hand on my chest (it being a hot day and me shirtless didnt help). now i know gloves for me at least are a must, and a shirt for sure.

I love how it takes two hands to hold her, very nice pictures

Thanks! :) blondis are gorgeous T's without a doubt! I've gotten urticating bristles from just about every single NW on me and I'm lucky I didn't get any from the blondi. I've heard they're wicked! {D

Good job not getting covered by the hairs! This is a pic of my blondi the day I brought her home last Summer. I had on a tank top, not very smart as she dashed up my left arm, across my neck to my right shoulder before I had her back in a container.
Needless to say, I itched for a couple of days.

nice

brach's mess me up WAY worse than blondi's. i suspect it is cuz i have had way way more exposure to the brach urts

also, for a given species males mess me up more than females :)

someone told me males have different kinds or distribution of kinds of urts. never independently confirmed it but it seems to make sense given the fact they itch me more

Agreed.

When I got my B smithi pair, I got sprayed by the male and it was like OOOWWWWW!!!!! I couldn't stop itching and and after about an hour, These little red bumps started appearing where I got sprayed! OW!

wow sarah nice blondi! wish i had one!(on myto get list)

and moose and cacoseraph, i have to say i agree! my B. smithi's U hairs tear me up! and also its always the males that makeme get hives! i have read that male brachepelma smithi contain type 1 and 3 urticating bristles on the adbdomen. not to sure if thats confirmed though but i did read it somewhere on A.B. i think it was in a thread "katy green" started after he b. smithi mishap. i could be wrong though.

another species that tearsme up is any lasiodora. every one ive messed with leaves me in welts. and i took a shot of full blow bristles to the face a month or so ago..man that sucked. i wrote a report on it and listed a few things i tried to rid the itching....and duct tape won!

Beautiful T. blondi. On my wish list as well. I had a recent incident with uriticating hairs from my L. parahybana, sexing the molt. Itched for a week. I had a B. smithi 30 years ago and never had a problem with hairs. Mishandle a molt and boom, fingers swelled and itched terribly for a week. Maybe it's an age thing!

Thanks guys :D I have to say the worst hairs I've experienced so far have been from my female A. geniculata. Last time I handled her, she refused to get out of her hide and kicked hairs. When I handled her, the bristles she had stuck to her scopulae went right into my hands  oh well. Live and learn! But the pics were soooo worth it!

I think there is some thing so cool about a female holding a large T without breaking a sweat! Did you buy her locally or did you pick it up from Bens place or lisas?
