as long as you feel comfortable with it it depends on each individual snakeHow often can i handle my corn snake? And for how long?
If you feed your snake in a different tank from which it lives what you should do is feed the snake and leave it in there (supervised so it wont escape into your house some where) for about 5 -10 mins more until you see the food item completely gone and into the stomach then pick it up and put it directly back into its regular homeok. for feeding i have a 10 gallon feeding tank and i was wondering that after it was done eating if i could pick it up just to move her to her original tank?
None of the corns I have ever had have regurged from simply moving them back to their home enclosure after feeding. It is a good idea to give it about a half hour before making this transfer though. One reason is to be sure the meal has settled in the stomach but the main reason is to allow the snake to understand the feeding is over. I have had a few corns hit me when I tried to move them back to soon after feeding thinking they were getting more prey. I have never had this happen after allowing a half hour time period though.ok. for feeding i have a 10 gallon feeding tank and i was wondering that after it was done eating if i could pick it up just to move her to her original tank?
That's not necessary at all - and unless your feeding tub has a heat source, it is an actively bad idea.ok. I will start leaving her in the feeding tub overnight.
I for sure agree here. That's not necessary at all - and unless your feeding tub has a heat source, it is an actively bad idea.
I have a ball python, widely known as one of the most stupidly neurotic snake species in the common pet trade, and I can pick him up to put him back in his tank after a meal with no problems. Once the rodent is all the way down his throat and he's kinda settled (takes half an hour, if that), there doesn't seem to be any problems.
That is much better than what I was going to do. If I can return her after a half an hour after eating without trouble than I will surely do so. Thanks.I for sure agree here.
Never leave your snake overnight in the feeding enclosure unless it has hides heat and water like the living enclosure.
Put the prey into the feeding enclosure, add snake, watch snake eat prey, wait 30 minutes and return snake to home enclosure.
