I got this pic in my mailbox a few days ago... It looks like something I'm pretty sure I'd never do . That guy looks like he's just crazy!!

Corel Photo House? What has that to do with anything? How can you see it was edited in that program by the way?

Well, Corel Photo House is photo editing software.

I'm not saying this guy definitely transposed the image but it sure does look funky to me. sometimes pictures just look funny for no reason, sometimes they look funny for a good reason.

i'm pretty proficient in adding and removing things from pics, and i'm having trouble seeing where there could be a paste and copy. if its fake, its a damn good fake. the trouble i have is someone trying to feed a pokie in threat posture.

as for the edges of the poke, they look fine to me. the lack of a shadow is from the flash being right in front of the spider & the guy's hand.

after doing a little photoshop investigation, it looks even more likely that its real. i did detect a bit of weirdness around the edges of the photo, but that is a result of JPEG compression. squarish "artifacts" can result from saving a pic as a JPEG, due to the levels of compressing you need for the web.

so, to repeat: it's real, or its a very very good fake.

Yeah Garth, I just checked it out pretty closely and I can't find any obvious anomalies. I also noticed the shadows are pretty consistent. There was definitely a flash used for that pic which explains the odd light angle.
I agree with your question about why someone would feed a defensive pokie though.
You gotta admit, the initial suspicion is justified for many reasons. I trust Garth's analysis on the matter much more than my own in the realm of computer graphics.
Still raises a red flag with me for some reason. Must be the die hard cynic in me.

Alright guys, since this post had kinda been messed up already, I might as well tell, the picture is real!!! But the spider isn't ... it's a stuffed molt, being put in a threat posture to make it look more realistic.
This guy posted this on arachnids-pix2 list to get some nice reactions (which he did), and I asked him if I could post the pic here to see some of you guys reactions .

So, really guys, just don't try this at home, unless your pokie is stuffed too ;P.
