Hamster/Gerble food for rats

is hamster and gerbil food ok for a rat to eat. i want to make sure they wont get sick or anything?

Over the long term it would be harmful. Hamster/Gerbil food does not have the specific vitamins, in the right amounts, for a rat. But as a temporary fill in it shouldn't cause any problems that I know of.

ours get hamster feed as a treat, but there normal food is lab blocks, they have everything in them they need.

hamster food's not recommended. I personally mix my own rat food. some of the hamster grains, some oat and yogurt cereal, rice, dry pasta, fresh veggies, mealworms, crickets, dry oats, fried soy beans...
