I am curious what the care for these cute fellas is like? I would “just google it” but that’s often unreliable so i felt like i should ask here (((:)

Some of their favorite foods are Carmel apples and candy corn.

I would steer away from Halloween crabs they seem kind of complicated to keep and require a fairly large amount of space. Instead, look at vampire crabs, pretty similar but easier to take care of, smaller, prettier imo, and you can have beautiful enclosures for them. They're one of my favorite animals I own!

I was researching these and other crabs a good bit over the years. I’ve been wanting to set up some nice crab enclosures, but haven’t gotten around to it. Vampires are beautiful and seem to be hit or miss with ease of care based off their health when they arrive and given the proper set up. They are small though, so not what you’re looking for if you want something larger…

So the Halloweens from what I gathered will basically hide most of the time, only coming out at night a little, if given a correct set up(deep substrate to burrow in). They also, like most crabs aside from vampires(only fresh water), will need a brackish/saltwater area and a freshwater area.

I have heard patriot crabs can be a better option, with time settling in they’re said to become more active and will interact with you more. I’ve even heard of some becoming friendly with handling.

@Jimbob "they're very easy to care for as long as you get cb" is what I should have put. But op lives in the US so they can order some from aquaticarts and it should be fine.

@Taffy If you want a larger crab you could look into panther crabs or thai devil crabs, I don't know much about thai devil crabs but I know they're larger and I think they're freshwater

You could buy a Dungeness crab from the local supermarket and keep that as a pet like the guy on YouTube did with the lobster hah.
