Hi guys,

Just got a new enclosure for my Bahia Grey Birdeater I’ve been looking to get,

I’m getting it setup for him, due to being in Ireland and temperatures being much lower, I’ve opted for a heat mat placed under the tank,

I got a habistat digital thermometer, so I can plug the heat mat into that, however I’m having trouble as there’s a timer on it, is there a way to turn the timer for the heating off?

Ive read the manual and it says nothing about turning it off, so if I set it to 1 and to turn off at 12:59, would that work?

I feel she’d need the constant heat as it is so cold over here, and I read they need around 22 Degrees Celsius,

Basically I’m asking if there’s a way to turn the timer off to keep the heat constant,

any help is appreciated,

Can you post a photo of the timer you are talking about?
Do not place a heat mat under an enclosure that is a death sentence to you're T, best way is a small space heater. Using a heat mat best way is getting a larger container than you're spiders enclosure can fit in and put the heat mat on any vertical side of that, then place the enclosure inside the heated container. If you can't do that the heat mat should go on the side of the enclosure never under it. A tarantula will burrow to get away from the heat, unknowingly burrowing towards it.

I see what you’re saying, thank you, I’ve the picture of the digital thermostat included, so best off creating a vacuum sort of thing around the tank, in a way, I will definitely get that sorted ASAP thank you

Wherever you read that, I would suggest not reading from that place ever again....sounds like typical care sheet drivel.....no tarantula needs any specific temperature, if they did, they wouldn't exist in the wild....tarantulas can handle a wide temp range.

I only know Herpstats and their default setting is a constant temperature day and night. I've never had to adjust the timer. I thought this might help you. Too bad it doesn't have sound, but I guess it's fairly intuitive.
