I haven't sent out the molt to be sexed yet, so I'm not sure on the sex & I've had it for about 3 weeks.

I think I'll pass but you are more than welcome to come over & get a kiss.(from the T)

I just hope it turns out to be female. I'm planning on sending the molt out so I can get an experts opinion on if this is really an H.Schmidti. Just have to find some one who can do it.

Nice pics, I just got 5 of these little guys
5:eek: One is a hand full for me. Mine is pretty nasty good thing her fangs hadn't hardened up yet when I was taking pics. I wasn't planning on keeping it(Before it molted) but if it turns out to be female I will keep her.

How big are yours "brazil"?

u must have x-ray eye sights or some sorta exp to see through the spermathecae, since the difference between the two sp is hainana's spermathecae is twice bigger than schmidti

I sent off the molt yesterday to be sexed & Id'd. But the guy said based on the size & build of the spider he would guess female & the dark form of H.Schmidti but he would have to examine the molt to confirm it. I'll post the results when I get them.

Good luck with your findings. Males of the (dark form) of H.Schmidti are knid of scarce lately.

I got my results back but I was told that the molt was damaged due to my packaging but he was able to sex it and it is......... Female. I guess thats a good thing but I still would like to know what I have & I don't think she will give up another molt wit out a fight:eek: So she might stay unidentified.

Wouldn't be too sure.
It looks too yellowish on the pre-molt pic to me.

And THE JUICE
You could just send the spider instead of the molt, wouldn't be a problem if you know how to pack them. Then you will get it IDd for sure.

I doubt he wanna get rid of a spider just to get a ID
Easier to send the exuvia if one know how to pack it to prevent damaging it.

Although the molt was too damaged for me to look at anything other than the spermathecae, based on the photos he posted and the spermathecae I am quite sure it is the dark form of Haplopelma schmidti. If you search this site for related threads you will find an explanation of the difference in the spermathecae of H. schmidti and H. hainanum.

Cheers, Michael
