:D Well - we experienced our first breeding attempt last night with our pair of H. minax. After the male spent 1 hour walking around her cage - waiting for her to come out from her hide, the big event lasted approximately 25 seconds! The male made his escape at the end, which was easy because the female stood their massaging her opisthosoma area with two of her back legs. I was so excited, that half the video I took is out of focus  (Thats what happens when you stop looking at the camcorder and start watching the action instead  ) Hopefully this event will lead to a sac!

They came to me as a breeding pair. The only pic I have of the male is on the myspace link (pics section), or in the Questions section of Arachnoboards under the Spermweb or Tank Decoration post.

Thats a nice female there.I'm Wondering mabey it might possibley be sp."Vietnam" or sp."Vonwirthi"?To make things even more confusing I guesse its thought those may just be a regional form of H.minax.Does your female have black or tan spinnerets?
heres a shot of one of my minax girl.

and heres sp."Vietnam" (young adult)

Notice the Vietnam species has more tanish spinnerets and also more pronounced striation on the legs.Supposedly minax ranges from Vietnam to Thailand so whether or not these are dif variants of the same species or new species we wont know until some papers are published.Contact Soren or Volker and they can prob help you ID your spiders alot better than me!

The stridulating organs are different between H. minax and H. vonwirthi suggesting they're different species

Im pretty sure sp.vonwirthi/Vietnam are the same thing.Whatever H.vonwirthi is tho it was improperly described by schmidt so we will have to wait for a revision to find out what in fact this species actually is!
