I should be getting some new spiders in the mail today or tomorrow and just thought I would check some things.

Holconia immanis (australian huntsman) should be kept fairly hot and dry, right? Also I'll be getting a pair of this species but I guess they're not to be kept together unless for mating, or would that work out with enough space?
And I've been hearing different things about the venom, how venomous are they really? I figure it's no fun getting bit, but what happens? Necrotism, hospital, or worse?

I'm also getting a Cupiennius salei (Costa rican) which I figure should be kept a little more humid, but does the enclosure need to be sprayed often? If so, how often? Once a day, every other day, once a week, or is a large waterdish sufficient? And the venom? Bad or not so bad?

I know I should've done my homework before I got them but sometimes you just have to buy stuff when it's offered before someone else gets all the good stuff. ;) :D And yes, I've used the seach function first. And still ask. :)

I should be receiving a eastafrican trapdoor of some kind too, but I don't have a scientific name for it yet so I'll put up some pics when it gets here. :)

The venom is not dangerous, no necroticism or other unpleasant effects - just some swelling and stiffness. This goes for both.

Thanks, that's good to know. I won't mess around with them anyway, but accidents can happen. Especially since I'm a scorpion kinda guy slowly branching out into the spider business :)

Don't know if it's perfect but this is how i keep them

Cupiennius set-up (hot and humid aprox 25° + 70-80%)

Holconia immanis set-up (hot and dry aprox 28° + 50%)
I'm keeping 2 in 1 enclosure for a while now,... still doing fine,...
others are kept solitair (just in case i lose 1 due to canibalisme ;) )

Thanks for the info Steven, looks good. The 2 immanis you're keeping together are male and female right? Have you noticed any mating occuring?
It doesn't look like either species are spinning that much web, is this so or am I just not seeing any?

Excellent set-ups. How do you maintain and monitor the humidity? Also what kind of diet do the C.salei require?

Well, I got them today and took some pics.
First one of the Holconia immanis, don't know which. And the other of the Cupiennius salei on the run on my livingroom table, fast and jumping little bugger :)
About size, will they get much larger than this, I know the salei have a few centimetres left but what about the immanis? My indexfinger is 7 centimetres/2.75 inches for size comparison.

Is it just me or does my C. salei look more like C. getazi? Or is it a C. salei male?

Yep, that's the page I checked. I always get paranoid when I'm not sure about the species of my animals.
I don't want to label it with a name and then get corrected by some "expert" later ;) . Makes me look stupid and I don't like that :D
