This is my Adult female H. Albostriatum, who never refuses food.

I fed my G. rosea a pinkie for the first time a couple of weeks ago and was shocked at how quickly she attacked it. How long did it take your T to finish off the mouse? Mine took an entire day just on a pinkie!

I fed the Mouse/Hopper to her yesterday at 12pm and she is still feeding on it as I type 11:30am so it's almost been 24hrs. Right now the Mouse is just a Fleshball with a Tail. She didn't come right out and attack the mouse, I kind of guided the mouse down she burrow, and then she tagged the mouse right in the gut, I would say after the bite, it took the mouse about 10sec to die. I more than likely won't feed her/ or my other T's any more Mice, It's pretty gross after it has been turned into a fleshball. I wanted to get an anole but, they run about $7 around here.

I've started raising roaches, I'm tired of buying and smelling crickets. I gave my 3" b. smithi a 2" roach, it ate on the roach for 24 hours solid and boy was it fat afterwards!

I can't feed off my roaches exclusively yet, but I can afford to feed off a few males. I just got them a month or so ago and it'll be around March before I can stop buying crix altogether, but jeez I hate those smelly things.

How do you go about doing this? How do you even get started??

I am going to make a similar setup to the link that FryLock provided, right now I only have about 50-80 b. discoidales of various sizes (20-30 adults) and I currently have 9 Ts (planning to add more in the spring). I'm just sick of smelling crickets, I hate to "have" to go buy them and roaches are so easy to maintain.

Thats awesome. I was thinking of roaches for a while now, but hadn't considered it untill now. I decided that these guys are a much better idea. I hate crickets too, mostly for thier noise and horrible smell.

Now I just need to find a breeding pair. How many will it usually take to get a decent sized colony going?

I have a couple dozen adults with about 50 others of various sizes. I've had them a month or so and 10 days ago found about 30-40 1/4" babies running around. As soon as those mature (which takes 2-3 months) and begin to reproduce I should have plenty for the # of Ts I have.

I could have started with more but just didn't want to spend the money at the time.

Just depends on how long you are willing to wait for them to reproduce and the # of Ts you have.

My only problem is that after shipping costs and only being able to order by the dozen *from what i can find*, it's going to cost just as much as a sling or two. And knowing me I'll end up ordering the slings instead. {D
