Nice pictures, is it a California Kingsnake, Lampropeltis getula californiae?

A small Aussie elapid species called Bandy-Bandy,Vermicella annulata, also looks like this but that's highly unlikely to see around. :)

If I remember correctly, this guy lives in Australia. He's got a thread in the field trips section.

I just saw the topic and since he was handling some serious spiders there, I guess he wouldn't mind free-handling a bandy bandy :).

Bandy-bandy!

I got a book about venomous snakes recently, which is the only reason I knew what it is.

For some reason the name sounds kind of jolly and care-free for a venomous snake.

They are incredibly shy and easy to handle. I wouldn't handle any other elapids out here like that though. Not worth it! Bandy bandies are Australia's version of the sonoran coral snake...... which I've also handled.

Awesome pictures. I guess Vermicella annulata is one species that we wont see in the hobby as everybody is crazy about taipans, black and brown snakes. I actually find these as interesting as their big cousins if not more.

I have to spend at least 5 years of my life over there. Great find!
