Guess I have a Male.....

I bought Floofy almost 2 years ago as an adult Female Curly Hair (Tliltocatl albopilosus) from a supposedly reputable shop online. As I trusted the sexing, I never bothered looking at the 2 molts that were done by her--er--him. Of course, as shown in the attached pics, after the last molt I definitely have a Male, the hooks are there in all their glory and the pedipalps are swollen and ready for action. Final nail was the web spun last night, definitely ready to get it on with the nearest willing Female....sigh. I go out of my way to not buy Males, I'm not into them at all. I'm not a breeder and have no intention of ever becoming one. So I guess he's going to have to live out his life (what's left of it) as a virgin. He'll of course be well cared for, and he just got rehoused last week to a larger and better enclosure, so he'll be comfy in his last days....still doesn't make me happy I was ripped off by a shop that should have gotten the sexing properly right, especially at the age I bought it at. Lesson learned on my end to trust no one when it comes to that aspect of it, I'll sex all my molts from here on out, something I should have done in the first place. Don't let a shops reputation fool you, they all make mistakes, it's on you to figure it out. IMG_0774.JPEG IMG_0775.JPEG

I'm sure you could sell him in the classifieds section here, good amount of breeders on this site.

Any chance you could explain the situation to the shop? Maybe see if they could make it right?

I will be in touch with his shop as soon as I'm able, he seemed like a nice guy and I'm pretty sure this wasn't intentional....or it could have been, I'm genuinely not sure at the point. AS they were bought 1 1/2 years ago, I have no leg to stand on anyway. I got 2 other spoods from him as well, I'll check their molt's as well to be sure. Actually I'll be doing that from now on as I've mentioned above, I officially trust no one anymore.

Why don’t you have a leg? You were sold a F and it’s a M. That’s fraud IMO.
If you don’t demand something you get nothing. No one is checking up, you have to follow up!

I'm in contact with the seller now, we are in the process of exchanging photos, his from the original sale, mine from when I got them in till now. Hopefully we'll come to a mutual agreement. He's having a hard time believing he sent me an adult Curly Hair that was sexed wrong...but he did admit it can happen at the least. Anyway, I'll update with more info when I have it. Thanks for the push viper69, I would have just let this slide and I really shouldn't have 😊

Well it seems that he no longer has, or can't/wont find, his original photo's and at nearly 2 years since I bought them I no longer have any either, so I'm getting the feeling he's trying to state I'm not in possession of the Curly Hair he sold me and it by process of his thought line Floofy might be a replacement Male.....this will not end well methinks. So be it, I simply won't use or promote their shop on my blog or anywhere else. This was an $85 sale, neither of us would go broke with me buying it or him making reparations for selling me a mis-sexed spood. Live and learn, not everyone is an honest seller.

This is upsetting. Im sorry this happened to you.

this is the kind of thing that would get be very angry.

i only buy from one dealer, and i would still double check. however, i doubt a mistake would happen. In fact, if a mistake would happen, i think it would be a mutant.

i paid hundreds of dollars, for an adult female g pulchripes. It wasnt hard to confirm it was female. Had it turned male, that would be a science freak show.

its important to find that dealer you trust, and also, offers excellent customer service. I hope you will find that one dealer.

Sadly due to where I live (NYC), I'm stuck with out of state sales unless I manage to find a reptile/spider fair somewhere just outside of the city as sales of our favorite friends are banned here. I've been pretty lucky over the years with online sellers, this one was the first time I can recall that turned out partially bad as I had two other spoods in the sale that brought me this one who are what they were advertised as....I think (I'll need to wait for a molt on them to be sure, I now trust nothing he sold me....sigh....). I'll use sellers on this site if possible from now on, assuming I even want to continue doing this, I'm moving and having spoods posses a problem in some of the places I'd like to move to. At least in NYC I can keep them if not buy them here, many other places wont allow them at all. I'll see what happens in the near future with this.
