I found another one, it was real close to the same spot in my backyard where I found the other one. They look like two diff Pasimachus to me. One has the blue/purple ridge around it and the elytra are more dome shaped. The other one is all black, with a smaller, lower profile abdomen.
man those are awesome! i believe the females are a tad bigger than the males, when i kept my colony years back, they were mating like crazy:} and the males were on top of the females and they were alittle smaller, never got any larva though i'm guessing the eggs never hatched,or were eaten.hey ya gotta fix that little dent in that one,ive got some bondo had to put that in there, anyway enjoy them they live for a long time,i have 3 1 like yours and 2 w/green on the sides(midwest local) for about 2 and a half years and still going strong.
I drilled a little hole and pulled the dent out . I don't like that dent either. They have popped up in my yard all of the sudden which is cool. I've been in this house for 13 years and haven't seen one in my yard before. And I don't know if I've seen a larvae of these before, you know what the larvae look like? I saw some body parts in the same area too so it looks like they might be doing well here. I found the beetles and the parts all in a 10 diameter area. I posted a weird looking larvae here and on the other forums, like "whatsthatbug" and something else, nobody could ID that beetle larvae.
