depending on if its a farm breed captive, or a true captive breed...temperaments seem to really differ between the 2..as a rule though they are nippy and it doesnt seem to get any easier with more handling...they are not as bad as blood pythons...but some experience is needed with these guys as they will tend to strike even when unprovocated...but a great addition if you can get one!!! really all individuals act differently and im only giving you advice from ones i have been around and one i owned awhile back ....so someone Else's experience might be different...soo hope that helps

I think it really depends on the individual temprament of the snakes. I have a CBB green tree python that I picked up as a yearling that is okay with being handled. It still nips a little and doesn't like being held - but I think the snake trying to nip me when I'm unwinding him to handle him and/or it's hunting at night is different than a truly aggressive snake. You just can't hold them the same way you could a ball, no matter how calm they are. I try to handle mine the minimum amount.

My blood python is comfortable being held, but a lot aren't. I've had ones launch themselves at me just for opening their cages. My blood is still more hissy and "talky" than any ball I've held.

I'd say if you really want a GTP or an ETB, pick up a yearling from a qualified breeder. They can help you out and answer all your questions. They are great snakes, just different from balls. Don't be intimidated, if you really want one do your research and you'll be fine. Check out Greg Maxwell's site for good GTP information. www.finegtps.com

Most of them can be tempermental 50% of the time.

My girl is a great snake! She has not snapped at me once and I handle her all the time!

If I had the money for more..I would do it. She was a great purchase and I would not hesitate to get another one! And in addition to her ...I loved making her cage up with decor which is in one of the pics below.

Here is some pics of her.....enjoy!
