My sister called last night to describe a frog they had found on a shrub at my nephew's house. She wanted to know what it was. After she told me she had tried to take some pictures, I told her to see if they came out clear, and if so to e-mail me a photo. It was too late for me to go see for myself, and chances were good that it had moved on anyway.
So, she sent the picture, and as I suspected from her description, it was a Gray Tree Frog (Hyla chrysoscelis). I think they are fairly common, but I've only seen a few in my lifetime, they are pretty well camoflaged and spend most of their life in trees and bushes. I've heard more of them calling than I've ever seen.
But anyway, I thought her photo was pretty striking and thought some of you might enjoy it.
