Gravid (Ovulating) Varanus tristis

Nothing about this process looks comfortable. I'm not sure what is worse, the swelling at ovulation and the overly amorous male that jumps on her every time she's on the ground.

O_O perhaps kicking the male out of the house until she has recovered from egg laying is in order? Wow she certainly does not look comfy to say the least! The last pic looks like she is is saying "YOU did this to me!"

Im not that expierenced with varanus breeding but I wouldnt house them together as egg laying nears, one would think that the male could possibly eat the eggs...

Some monitors it can be a problem, but in a larger cage there shouldn't be an issue. Plus moms are quire aggressive toward males (and keepers) that come near their nest. This protective nature lasta only a few hours, but it is long enough to ensure I get there first.
