I am fairly new to the hobby and got my first T. I have been trying to find information and care tips on the Grammostola sp. Maule but I am having a hard time finding any on the web and only see about a couple of youtube vids that only consist of picture collections.

I went by having an eco earth substrate in his enclosure, and just wanted to confirm how much moisture do I keep in them, right now it is a bit moist but not too moist. As far as temp, I keep the enclosure around 75 - 80 degrees farenheit. I also feed him twice a week with crickets.

I thought Id ask you guys as I love the little guy and I want to make sure I give him the best care possible :)

I am also planning on getting an Avic once I get the enclosure I ordered for it :D

Any info will help and thank you in advance for everything :)

Not having heard of this species designation...I'd keep it like other Grammostolas. Only a corner of the sub damp, full water dish. Temps sound fine. Once a week feeding is usually fine, unless you are trying to power feed. But roseas will tend to eat what they want when they want, I see no reason this one would be any different.

Good luck!

From what I have read about G. sp. maule, until being described as a different species, they are believed to just be a different color form of G.rosea. Commonly known as the chilean gold fluff tarantula, you can keep these on dry substrate, at room temps and humidity with a shallow water dish. These are one of the most stunning Grammostola's post-molt :) Your feeding habits are fine.

Nice T!

Where did you purchase this spider? It also looks as if it could be a Grammostola sp. "concepcion"

I got it from a local exotic petshop here in CA. I have dealt with them a few times before when I still had my reptiles and had earned my trust. It is just the lack of available information about the species that is kind of throwing me off since I want to make sure I take care of the little guy the right way the first time around :D

Does it have enlarged scopulae like an arboreal would?
No, I would not say they are enlarged, just a lot of them covering pretty much its whole body. I just kinda zoomed in with my camera so it looks a bit on the thick side

Another suggestion I would make is if you have a window you can keep the cage by I would do that. Of course don't keep the cage in direct sunlight, but in a position where the tarantula gets some kind of sunlight shining in. They do not benefit from sunlight like reptiles do for example, but what a lot of people don't realize is that while this genus of tarantula is very hardy and tolerable to most conditions, they are sensitive to time of day and those kind of changes. Just like we have a schedule, circadian rhythm, so do they. So by knowing when the sunrises and sunsets will help them get a better sense of the seasons.

Umm... I was referring to the segment right after the foot. What were you referring to? Grammostola sp. concepcion have enlarged/circular scopulae on their first set of legs, maybe the second as well, haven't checked mine.
