This is Grammostola grossa which I find a very pretty good looking spider. Probably underrated to a few hobbiest. I dig em!

'Gross' is a reference to size.Hahaha funny funny
Yes, I understand.... Just found it humorous'Gross' is a reference to size.
Not seeing the humor. If the species name was 'gigantea' would you laugh at that too?Yes, I understand.... Just found it humorous![]()
The one from this photo is only 4" inches. But I do have another one that is at 5.5" inches waiting for her to molt for a photo shoot. So in my opinion I expect them to be large. But since this is the first time I have owned them, I don't know much about them. I would have to say yes I think they have a decent size to them. Their colors is black with a tint of silver on them it depends on the position you are looking at the spider. On the chelicerae has quite a bit of silver highlight. At least this is how I can best describe this species color wise. I'm treating this species the same I would a pulchra, rosea, porteri or alticeps. So 'grossa', does that mean it's a large species?
It does not surprise that it gets big. I find this species leggy. I will be keeping one of them for myself until it gets a really nice, big and stocky. The other two females I will eventually sell them, same with the little sling that I own.jon3800 has a video where he goes to the montreal reptile expo, Bruce from arachnophiliacs has one that is huge. From what I remember, Bruce says its the biggest Grammostola.
it was from this years expo if you want to check it out.
Moderate. Pulchra or porteri are slower than grossa.
