Got to see my first molt!!

Now a question for everyone, are T's usually really weak and unable to move a whole lot even a day after a molt? My female P.Ornata molted and now she is spending alot of time beside the water bowl, was it a dry molt? Will she be okay? She is still responsive, but its kinda a delayed thing, I put a towel over her enclosure to give her more privacy.

How large is she?

Ts are very mushy and vulnerable after a molt, so they tend to really not move too much until they have hardened up some.

Even smaller Ts around 3" in LS will take more than a day to darken completely, let alone become active. Make sure her water dish is always filled, and give her time. The towel is a good idea

Thanks. I bought her as a 3" T but the molt measured 4" and I am leaving her be for now so im not messing with her to much. I knew they were really soft after a molt but even my 2nd S.cal who molted(today sometime) is already running around, granted s/he is only around 1".

Yeah her dish is staying filled, she also keeps a leg or two in the dish, just keeps alternating which legs.

Time for an ICU? I don't think the molt turned out well, but im not used to larger T's molting opinions please.

I would put him/her in an ICU.. In a warm, dark, quiet place just to be safe... It does look like the molt may have went a little of course for the little critter.. Hope all goes well for ya!

Just an off the wall question.. Do you keep the substrate a little moist? or even mist the enclosure?

From the picture you have it looks like it might be to dry for that SP...

I could be wrong though..

Get that T on moist substrate, and into somewhere dark and quiet like Tommy said...

I don't know exactly how to handle wet molts, but that looks like it might be one.. so hopefully someone else will chime in

Usually the sub is kinda moist but I havent been able to mist lately( schedule at work) so it dried a little on top. Thanks you guys, right now she is an ICU in a dark area(behind my smaller H.Lividum enclosures) with the temp being around 80. I'll keep updating on how she does.

I hope it goes well for you! (if you don't have one in there, put a water dish in the ICU)

I would search "wet molt" and see what comes up for you, as well... I have seen pictures of worse, though... if that offers any hope!

If I happen to find one small enough, most the water dishes I have are for larger T's and dont fit well in the ICU.

Well I put a water dish in there and after I tried using a Q-tip to remove what looks like a dirt clod from her mouth(poor thing is so weak she only got one leg in a threat display, so if she makes it she is going to hate me ) and it didn't work but she found the water dish and is kinda soaking so we shall see how it goes.
