 Got my new Scorp today, H. spinifer, got it through the male, beattiful male (i think), emerald green sheen to its shell. Unfortunatly when it arrived i thought it was dead:eek: :( , It was life less, stone cold, complete;y unresponsive, it even sliped off my hand back into the box it came in, whithout even a twitch. I left ti in a cotainer for a while, and noticed its tail arching up:clap:   , so i put him in the airing cupboard. He is now back to life, chufed, i was guted when i thought he was dead. He is now liveing it up with my male Emp, no problems.
I know some scorps hibernate, is this what hapend to my Spinifer, or was i a close call?? It is geting a little cold hear in the UK.

Just witnesed to most fasinating and puzzeling thing since i got my Scorps. Im assuming i have just witnessed my EMP and My new H. Spinifer, go through the cortship dance. There are no severd body parts, dispite both haveing ample opertunity. Mutual envemonation, the male Emp, holding, what I now think to be a femal H. Spin. claws closed, pulling and pushing her, both vibrating back and forward, tails arched up. No evidence of insemination. But is this posable with to SAcorps of differant specis???? The H. Spinfer has now lost interest, and retreted to a hide, but the Emp is stil struting his stuff. Amazing, wish i had videoed it. Gental but rough at the same time!!!!

Mine did that too a long time ago. Then it was, "Hey, wait a minute, you're not my type." Sounds like your scorp just got cold in it's shipping container. Probably would kill a scorp that hasn't evolved to hibernate if it were cold for too long.

Well my H. Spinifer and Emp survived a night alone, infact they have made themselves right at home. She has dug a burrow, and he has moved right in. Typical male/femal behaviour, my Male Emp has lived on his owen for months, happy with his hide, now along comes a woman rearangeing the furniture, and he just sits back waits for her to finish then moves in. LOL!!!! They are now both shareing a burrow. Chuffed they accepted/tolerated each other, my mate wont be, shes gona have to look for anothe Scorp now.

Yep, first time, there are many threads/posts hear relating to good and bad experiances with houseinf spinifer and Emps together, it seams like exactly the samr risk as puting any 2 Scorps together for the first time. You always run the risk of an antisocial lunatic. I had a seperate tank ready, but to be honest ,my Emp is realy placid.

I have awlays been curious how an emp and n h. spin would interact.

My emp is far too antisocial for me to try that.

I do want an h. spinifer though.
