not a good sign..although they are a bit hight strung, especially when shedding.
you need to work with it,handle it often, and dont feed it in its cage, or feed it live food.

You should feed it some goldfish. Toss some into a bowl of water and watch the snake dive in and catch them. Its very fun.

OP, don't do this.

And DO NOT FEED YOUR SNAKE ON THE COUNTER. Your snake should never, ever be on the counter, period, ever. Reptiles carry salmonella. You should apologize to your mother and wipe the counter down with the strongest cleaner in the house.

Just get a shoebox and feed the snake in that.

They are right, get a shoebox or some small tupperware container and feed the snake in that. Do not wiggle your small pink fingers in front of a snake that eats small pink things that get dangled in front of it.
That being said, you will love having a corn snake, I have 3 and I love them, all 3 have different personalities, and are different colors and sizes although they are all within 4 months of being the same age.
They are wonderful snakes, have fun with yours!!!!!!
