I found this guy (or girl) in my backyard, I have never seen such a colorful spider! It's abdomen is orange and the spot on the abdomen is irridescent gold or green, depending on what angle you look at it. The picture doesnt show its true color, it was fantastic! If I had crickets already I would have kept him, but instead I let him go. What species is it?

Can anyone help me with an id? My book on spiders doesnt list it, or at least the colors may not match.

Mine doesnt look exactly what species you said. Look at mine (1st picture) and compare it to the picture of the sepcies you said (2nd picture) Mine has no white line on it's abdomen, the shiny area on mine is much larger, and mine has alot less orange on its abdomen.

Keep in mind, Jumping spider patterens can be very variable, Even within species.
