Since I'm always up at god awful hours, I tend to feed my nocturnal snakes around 2 am. Well I was getting tired and I needed to go to work the next day so I started feeding my snakes thinking "Oh yeah this will be real quick." This was the first time I witnessed my rainbow boa eating (the one that had giardia). I put him on some newspaper on the floor to eat because he's too large for his enclosure (getting a larger one within the next couple of days). Everyone else was already eating and done by the time this guy decided the freshly thawed rat was good enough for him. It took him thirty minutes to smell every inch of that rat, decide exactly the best place to start, and drag it to the corner of the newspaper. It then took him another thirty minutes to finish eating. I'm happy he's eating now but come on! I guess I'm just used to my king downing a mouse in under a minute {D {D

Ah yes, few herps are as quick of eaters as kings, they are pigs! Anyway, sounds cool. You don't have to wait until two a.m. to feed nocturnals, if it was the case, I would be a very tired and slightly insane man. I usually wait until I see my snakes pacing or attentively watching me as I go about my daily activities some time around feeding day. Then I feed them. Snakes can take to food anytime of day, even if it means waking them.
