I'm a tarantula type of guy but am now increasingly fascinated with centipedes...I was wondering if there was something comparable to "The Tarantula Keeper's Guide" but with centipedes.

I realize they're a whole different ballgame temperament-wise than tarantulas and in general more potent venom-wise and I just wanted to read up as much as I could on general care and rehousing etc methods to see if I want to take the plunge.

I have a basic idea of the 'how-to's' (secure container with screw on lid, enough height so the pede can't climb out, lots of substrate, adequate moisture and humidity as well as some looong forceps)...butmore info is always good.

Don't want to make a mistake, get something I can't manage and end up with a loose pede or someone getting bit etc.

I was thinking of starting with Ethmostigmus trigonopodus as they seem to be a slower, less reactive pede who seems to be less potent than others.

Orin mcmonigle's Centipedes in Captivity: The Reproductive Biology and Husbandry of Chilopoda, it is the best book on centipede husbandry out there.

I can get that and 'Giant Centipedes: The Enthusiast's Handbook' by the same author locally, so good to know.
Is it worth picking up the second book as well?

I would say no, the bigger, newer one most likely has all the info that the smaller one has, plus much more.

Seems like you're right, given the reviews and info I can find on the two books.
I'll be going with the larger book then.
