How Nephila got that name. I saw this splash of color high up in the trees across the road. The web is edge wise to my view which really makes it stand out.
Sorry about the crappy pictures. If someone wants to send a telephoto my way, Nikon standard, I won't complain! ;)

Gotta be one of my favorite spiders, their webs are amazing to see. I went to a nature preserve near the beach here in NC and I’ve never seen so many golden orb weavers. Everywhere you looked, above your head on the trail, up in the tree tops, webs stretched 10’ tree to tree. It was one of the coolest environments I’ve seen. I still have a joro hanging on in my room, the other 3 succumbed to old age but one is still going strong! :)

I encountered something along those lines.... riding a motorcycle through a banana grove. GACK!
