Yea i've been on that dive when I used to live in new york it's pretty cool.scottyk said:I don't know where you live, but here in the Northeast, there is another cage dive you can do.
There is a boat out of Montauk NY that does cage dives for Blue and Mako sharks. It only takes a max of 6 divers at a time, and the trip is a blast! In addition to sharks, we saw dolphins and whales out in the deep "blue water" zone.
Have a great time on the White Shark dive. I'm ridiculously jealous![]()
I wish I could lol, but they dont usually live in captivity, plus they ram the wall's trying to get out, imagine a 2000 pound shark ramming glass.Grim91Z said:Tarantulas are one thing, but Great Whites? Imagine having one as a pet.
That's one of the top "to do" things in my life before I die. I've been in touch with Monique and Chris Fallows (amazing people) and somewhat have a budget setup. Now if only I had a way to get the money....Arietans said:If you like Great Whites, you really should go to Robben Island (obviously as time and money allows), just off the coast of my country. Its the biggest congregation of Great Whites in the world.
.I also heard the sharks are WAY bigger that the ones in South Africa
Yea i'm going to SF to do some track's with lil flip, but im gonna do a few thing's while im there too.Bedlam said:That's one of the top "to do" things in my life before I die. I'd love to go to Cali though for a little teaser. SF is an amazing city as it is!
But I heard that the visibility isn't great. I also heard the sharks are WAY bigger that the ones in South Africa.
Yea they either die or get let go, only one cae has ever been successful, im not sure how many day's it was but I think they were successful in keeping a great white for 170 something day's.KennyGee said:They cant be captive because they dont stay in the same place, they migrate all over the coastlines and even out in the open ocean, its been tried but sum reason they die for noo reason.
I wonder if anyone's ever been stupid enough to go swimming in south africa's seaBedlam said:That's one of the top "to do" things in my life before I die. Yea I think it's your choice if you wanna freedive at your own risk, I'de be scared to freedive around that many great white's thoughBedlam said:I know that freediving is illegal around Great Whites in South Africa.
Not really sure how that can be enforced though!!
Mike Rutzen got pretty famous from his work freediving with the Whites in Africa until the law was passed against it. Seems that there's an amazing amount of social behaviour we dont know about yet and wont be able to until more freediving can be done. Massive risk on that one though!!
