If you like Great Whites, you really should go to Robben Island (obviously as time and money allows), just off the coast of my country. Its the biggest congregation of Great Whites in the world.

I don't know where you live, but here in the Northeast, there is another cage dive you can do.

There is a boat out of Montauk NY that does cage dives for Blue and Mako sharks. It only takes a max of 6 divers at a time, and the trip is a blast! In addition to sharks, we saw dolphins and whales out in the deep "blue water" zone.

Have a great time on the White Shark dive. I'm ridiculously jealous :D

Tarantulas are one thing, but Great Whites? Imagine having one as a pet.

I wish I could lol, but they dont usually live in captivity, plus they ram the wall's trying to get out, imagine a 2000 pound shark ramming glass.

I'd use think glass. Maybe even do an underground set up. Wish I had the link to the guy who did a 50 thousand+ gallon tank.

They cant be captive because they dont stay in the same place, they migrate all over the coastlines and even out in the open ocean, its been tried but sum reason they die for noo reason.

That's one of the top "to do" things in my life before I die. I've been in touch with Monique and Chris Fallows (amazing people) and somewhat have a budget setup. Now if only I had a way to get the money....

I'd love to go to Cali though for a little teaser. SF is an amazing city as it is!
But I heard that the visibility isn't great. I also heard the sharks are WAY bigger that the ones in South Africa.

.

Maybe the odd one or two, but as a general population, not likely. They have more food available than in most areas.

It blows my mind some of the guys I know who spearfish in great white turf in South Africa, I've seen more than a few photos of a juvie GWS taken from the boat, once all the divers were out of the water.

Man, but they haul in some freakin impressive tuna catches though.

I know that freediving is illegal around Great Whites in South Africa.
Not really sure how that can be enforced though!!

Mike Rutzen got pretty famous from his work freediving with the Whites in Africa until the law was passed against it. Seems that there's an amazing amount of social behaviour we dont know about yet and wont be able to until more freediving can be done. Massive risk on that one though!!

In my country its more important to SAY its banned than enforce it. Its mostly a case of covering their own backsides. :)
