Hey guys,

I have a beautiful giant Wolfie that I found today carrying her brand new egg sac. I'm going to separate them and raise them after she carries them. I'm curious to see if any of you would have interest in picking up a spiderling. Of course, everything is speculative right now, but if an established, captive hatched Giant Wolf spider hatchling is something you would be interested in buying, drop a comment. I am in the middle of the united states, and could theoretically ship out in spring.

I'd have to pass. Just a word of advice, wild caught wolf spiders at expo's go for like $10-$15 depending on species. For spiderlings you might be lucky to get $5 each.

Yeah, for sure. 5 bucks each would be great haha. Im more just looking to spread out a potentially large batch of spiders! first we have to see if they even hatch.

Is it Giant Wolf Spider (Hogna carolinensis) or Hogna lenta? Know that first lol, but both are in the hobby. If it's carolinensis, just let it go, I don't need the competition  joking.

Hahah that's hilarious. I think I just replied to you on one of your posts from August too.

I was pretty sure on species, but now I'm second guessing, what are the distinguishing features between the species?? She was sold to me (and sure looks like) a lenta but also looks alot like carolinesis. I'll try and find / get a good photo to attach to the thread.

I haven't had a lenta. Carolinensis has all black ventral with black stripes under each knee joint and orange chelicerae. And gets to be 3.5", sometimes more. If it's almost a 4" spider it's carolinensis lol

Okay, thanks so much! I think she is a Lenta. She does not have a black ventral, but she does have the banding, I think. I finally have some photos! She's maybe 2.5"? I'll attach them independently, but here's the best I could get of her underside.... not great, but helps show the color.

Thanks again

ditto the pressure is on
Hahahah here you guys go... gonna take a while to load up.. hopefully they take well. She's really fast, so there's some blur on the walking ones, but I'm sure I could edit it to look like a cool effect or something. Lmk what you think!

It kindof reminds me of the "desert" carolinensis people have been finding, this one on here is small, 5cm legspan so I can't fathom how it could be an adult. However, it should have adult colors on ventral at that size. https://bugguide.net/node/view/1068211
Otherwise maybe it is lenta, I'm no expert and I think there's a few variations, white for example is common in hobby. Otherwise maybe we're barking up the wrong genus lol. I can say for sure it isn't antelucana or incognita. Personally I've never seen a carolinensis that wasn't typical(central Colorado here), they are completely typical here, grey with jet black ventrals, and no adults I've seen have been under like 3.5"
