My brother found one at his house around November, I had an empty 10 gal with only water in it. That's pretty boring so I took the bug to my house. I notice people have had problems with them leaving the aquarium. This one did it twice but then I turned off the water pump. I think that's what bothers them(Lethocerus), they like still, quiet bodies of water best. Any waterfalls, bubbles, I don't think they like it and they try to leave(imo). This one stopped trying to get out and hasn't tried in about 8 months now. Water doesn't smell bad either with the pump off and no fish. I have snails, and daphnia are swimming around in there, maybe that has something to do with it. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

yep i kept one of these for about 2 years till it finally died, amazing creatures... lol I had it in a small critter keeper with still water, ate like a champ and somehow ended up with eggs on her shell and she died :( but i think 2 years is a pretty long time for them to live.
awesome feeders though. I changed her water half and half every week or so.

This one had eggs too, but this species puts them on objects out of the water, like on sticks and plants. She didn't have a place to put them out of the water so ...that didn't work:(. There's a rock out of water now though, just in case there are more to lay but I doubt it.
