Giant Wasp Nest

Hello, everybody!

I have enclosed a link which features a photo of me holding my prized bald-faced hornet (Dolichovespula maculata) nest. It measures an ENORMOUS 24 inches (2 feet) long! By the way, I have also enclosed another link to the photo gallery which features more photos of this particular nest. Enjoy!

That is a very large nest! I have not seen a large D. maculata nest in quite awhile. It looks like you got it just in time, right after the last workers died and right before the elements did their thing.

I used to have a really big one, not as big as that, but respectable. Like the size of a basketball. Mom threw it away, but I'm bound to have some picture lying around.
