One of our managers called me at home tonight and told me her Dad had caught a huge tarantula in a coffee can and asked me if I wanted it. I knew it had to be a wandering male A. hentzi but asked her, does he have a slim behind and long spindly legs, yes was the answer. I told her it was a male out looking for a hot date and my female might be just the ticket.
To make a long story short, she's bringing him to me in the morning!
I can't wait to see what she calls "huge".

UPDATE on Free T Friday

A poor, little stringy male like I thought. Not in very good shape either. He's hooked out and hopefully he's already sowed his oats 'cause he's moving pretty slow. I tried to pep him up with a water dish and then gave him a couple of light sprays . I don't think he has much time left but you never know. He did manage to catch the cricket I gave him and was chowing earlier.

I was surprised how many people at work were interested in him and asked about tarantulas. I handled him to show how docile these little hentzi's are, and a couple of ladies got bold and even held him and had their pictures made. None of the guys would!-{D

All in all, it was pretty cool day. I saved this this little male from being flushed down the toilet by the man that found him, and I was able to educate quite a few folks about our hobby. By the end of the day, one of the ladies had decided she was going to get a pet tarantula for herself!
Here's a few pics after I got him home:

Little dude is nothing but legs!

Good luck breeding him! I'm sure he'll appreciate the opportunity!
I wish I could get random Ts like that... I'm still looking for a male hentzi myself, but am not fortunate enough to live anywhere near their natural habitat, so my quest is a bit more difficult..

What a sweetie pie!!!!! Yes he is all legs, most MMs are. Such a nice little boy. I hope he is still up to breeding with your lady.
I love that he is "huge". They ought to see my freshly moulted female T. blondi.

Nice job--saving the T & esp. educating you co-workers! How very gratifying!
