After much thought and reading on this forum I decided to go to the pet store toady after I get paid and pick up one of the pretty little pink toes they have!!

I think they are 29.99, and I get a 12% discount. Is that about the right price?

thats probably fair, all the normal pinktoes i've seen for sale on the internet have been $15 for adults, but it would be $45 once you figure in shipping, if thats all you're getting of course.

I did take the shipping cost into consideration. Maybe that's why petstores always jack the price up a bit. My curly was the same price, but the lady that rang her up thought she was a G. rosea and typed in that price, which I think is around 19.99, plus the discount. :)

the reason pet stores "jack up the price" is because their whole purpose of selling these animals is making a profit. if they buy it for 15 dollars, then obviously they will sell it for more than that.

Well, that too..... But if they bought it for 15 and sell it for even 25, 10 dollars is still a handsome profit. Especially since they sell their crix for 10 cents a piece. I'm sure they make enough off the crix to cover what they feed say, 15 tarantulas.

Or they could be just totally greedy, and it ALL could be profit!! :)

What size pinktoe are you looking at?

I think $30 is high for a pinktoe, if it is larger and is a definite female, I would think about paying that much for it.

If it is larger, just make sure it's not a mature male. It won't live long if it is.

I'll make sure to try to get off work to go to it then!! I bought the pink toe, and LET ME TELL YOU, it is a magical experience holding it!! It is Only about 2" , the smallest one they had!! Totally calm and docile..... The 1st T I've had the balls to hold (and I'm a girl, ;P ) Since I've held my b-friends G. Rosea, and that was really cool!! I have a budding addiction, and it is FUN!!

I want an A. genic, a pokie P. regalis, and a b. smithi. NEXT..........=D

I have a curly, a P. Murinus, and an Avic. Avic...............

You have to watch the pink toes though, they sometimes like to jump, but every spider is different. My usambara thinks he is a pink toe or at least he acts like it.

I didn't mean the jump as being agressive,it can just catch you off guard and ya don't want the T damaged.

Yeah, but as long as it isn't rearing up at me I dont take it bad at all........ When the A. avic jumps it is natural........ I used to study chamleons, which are ALMOST all Aboreal. When you live in trees you have to know when to jump!! :)
