I bought what was told/labeled to me as a H. Maculata and was pointed out to me to actually be a Pterinochilus lugardi, so now I need some general care info on these beauties? Anyone with suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :) :D {D :worship:

Your best bet would be to look up a care sheet for the more common Pterinochilus murinus as they can both be kept under the same conditions.

Kindest kindest,

have two P. lugradi slings. both are aggressive feeders and would take three to four pinheads at a time. only thing i hate about them is that i never get to see them, cause they are always in their burrows :(

Yeah I have already fed it three med. crickets since i got it yesterday and it ate them without hesitation...hes decided to burrow in his critter keeper below and behind all the corkbark with no room to flip over...how the heck would he molt in that area?

You'd be surprised, tarantulas can molt in some mighty small spaces! My P. lugardi is kept in a tupperware box type thing, with dry peat moss/vermiculite substrate and a water dish. She has a terra cotta pot hide which I assume she loves because she never comes out of it! She pulls dirt up over the opening and webs it all closed.

Just be cautious, this is by far one of the fastest spiders I have. The speed with which mine grabbed her cricket last night (after grabbing my stick and scaring the poop out of me) was like light speed! If you are opening the container, I would recommend doing it on the floor, mine bolted out of hers when I was rehousing her on the pool table and made a mad leap for the floor. I was really lucky that she wasn't hurt.

If you want to see your P.Lugardi just leave it in a dark room for awhile, mine almost always makes an appearance once the lights go out.

I must be lucky cause mine didn't burrow it got up in a corner of the tank which I can see under some fake grass I put in there and just webbed the corner up. As for caring for it I keep mine at about 70-75 and just keep a small lid full of water plus misting once a week. Oh I am keeping it on 100% natural potting soil. But I have yet in 2 mths seen him out of his little webbed corner, and mine isn't an aggressive feeder, but a beautiful species though.
