Can we have a picture of the full animal? I doubt it's D. Variegatus.

As well, can we have a less blurry picture of the operculum? Of the cuff I don't see any hairs, therefore I think it's a male.

Looks like D. Diadema to me.
Also, it's likely too early to definitely tell the sex (I'm not sure when the hairs form) but on the off chance it isn't, I'd double down on male.

Male damon medius, they develop hairs early on, and operculum checks out. I can send photos of mine if that helps, yours is a younger specimen

How can you tell Medius vs Diadema? I thought the idea was the leg bands as an easy "tell". Want to make sure I'm not getting it wrong every single time haha

The banding in my experience is not always accurate. Medius has a much more uniform gray/brown/light brown coloration throughout its body, whereas diadema may have a greenish tint to their abdomen. Medius also get bigger and are much lankier/spindlier- they have thinner pedipalps as well, whereas diadema have a more squat/chunkier build. Their pedipalaps also tend to have a slight curve and look a bit bulkier, in addition to having slightly shorter legs.
