It depends on a number of variables, including feeding frequency, temperature, and just variation among specimens.
Mine was 1/4 inch when I got it, and took 3 years and 3 months to reach 4 inches. That's just one person's specimen, though. Others may grow at different rates. I kept mine in the 70s and fed twice a week until it hit 2 inches, and then once a week.
Mine grows very quickly, actually. It's worth pointing out that I suspect it's a male, based on the last molt check. I got him in February of this year at less than 1" DLS. He has molted at least twice to my knowledge (another molt might be buried somewhere), and is now just over 2" DLS.
At least as far as Grammostolas are concerned, they are very fast growers!
Pretty fast for Grammostola sp if fed regularly. Slings every 3-5 days, juveniles every 7-10 days, sub adults every 15-20 days molt, harden, repeat.
Two Specimens form diff sacs;
#1 (ended up male)
received on 04/30/15 @ 3/4" molts, 06/16/15, 08/03/15, 10/11/15, 02/14/16, 07/21/16 sold at @5"
#2 (ended up female)
received on 09/23/15 @ 2" molts 11/15/15, 05/21/16, 10/24/16 sold at @ 5.5"
Fast but it also depends. Got a 1/2" in March 2017, another one also at 1/2" April 2017. The first one came in a condiment cup with just some substrate, second came with an AMAC box with cork bark, leaves, deep substrate. Both stayed in their original enclosures until it was time to rehouse. AMAC one grew slower due to burrowing down and sealing off burrow for weeks at a time. Condiment cup is about 3-1/2", AMAC about 2-1/2". Also they were kept room temp- not in a hot room.
