Just be happy you have one! I don’t particularly want one but I hear they are next to impossible to find! I do like the jet black though.

I'm way happy I have her. It took me a while to find a molt-sexed female back when I got her, but she's totally worth it. What a great gal. She's always out and always hungry. Super sweet natured with a curious streak as well. I've had her almost three years now, and she's always a good time.

Slow ambush predators usually starve. :) It's always fun to see how fast they can move.

So beautiful. This is near the top of my wish list. They are like the black labs of the spooder world.

They are indeed lightning fast where food is concerned. Gluttonous little black balls.
She jerked in excitement upon seeing a delicious morsel presenting itself to her willingly, then pretended not to care. Just when the dubia was about to turn away, she greedily grabbed it.

I really recommend them. They're my second favorite grammy, after G. iheringi.

I've got my eye on G. actaeon and G. grossa though. I know, I know-- G. actaeon look a lot like iheringi. BUT when they grow up? They're less leggy and more bulky, like G. iheringi tanks. That's different enough for me.

I'd totally try to get a female with an inch on her though because they are slowwwwww growing. Quick eaters ;) but slow growing.

G. pulchra has been harder to find recently, I remember when I first wanted one they weren't very available then they spiked for a while I think around 2 years ago and I remember a good amount of places carrying slings around $45 or so then they all disappeared again after like 8 months. I'm just happy I have my little female! Also gotta love when any of the bulky NW terestrials eat, shows you they can still move at surprising speed they just don't.

They lose the red abdomen and then they just look like G. pulchra with a visible mirror patch when they reach adulthood.

I tried to find a sexed female, couldn't find one anywhere (probably couldn't have afforded one anyway). So I got two unsexed, and ended up with two females :smug:
My girls are very dangerous.....over short distances.

Mine leaps for her water dish whenever I squirt more water in, thinking I'm dropping in food. It's so easy to tell when pre-molt hits, because she otherwise doesn't hesitate to tackle prey. But if food isn't involved, she's slow as molasses. Not skittish at all and takes her time, even though she's technically still sling size. (Note: haven't confirmed that she's female yet, just my guess from her small molt.)

Mine is anything but slow, it's still a sling but from doing a barrel roll when taking down its food to attacking my tweezers it's surprised me.

She totally is a cutie patootie. I think even when she's a massive tank she's gonna be cute.

Yeah, same here. When I open her enclosure she's running all over the place. I hope she settles down as she gets older. If I wanted a zippy spider I would've just bought another Tappie :D

Mine too! I guess they have to be fast when they are teeny tiny. Mine had been really docile up until recently too. I know T's have their bipolar moments but considering my first T was meant to be a docile species but is actually spawn of the devil, I feel really betrayed by my pulchra :p

I'm feeling that betrayal from my Pulchra too. Since his(?) last moult he has been snapping at me and my tongs. I used to do maintenance with my fingers in his(?) enclosure... no more!

Also runs like the wind all over when I open the lid and has thrown me a threat pose. Fuzzy black teddy bear my derrière.

Edit: by maintenance I pretty much just meant water dish and object placement. Cleaning and feeding has always been tongs of course. :D

Awww no yours too! Just goes to show that you cannot necessarily categorise T's temperament by species. Sure some species are more inclined to aggression than others but I think they're slightly more complex than they are given credit for, by that I mean they have personalities and moods and so on. They are animals after all.

I agree completely. Definitely more complex than what people think. Always believed that any living creature capable of individuality is "to some degree", intelligent.
